Created as an auditory scratchpad for the creation of a series of visual works, (A Case of the) Dirties is a noisy investigation of themes which address the fetishization of stereotypes associated with the southern United States.

"Southern : The word elicits a myriad of ideas when associated with the United States of America. For one to identify as a Southerner connotes imagery rooted in nostalgia and violence. It’s ironic that the historical site of so much unchasteness and lack of restraint should be referred to as the Bible Belt. Both the Bible and chastity belts belie many good things to play with.

There is a persistent notion that if you were born below the Mason Dixon line, you are overtly religious (read : Baptist), all of your tea is sweet, your political leanings conservative, and all of your sex is heteronormative. The truth, however is much more fluid, and complex."
